New academic paper published

I have had my first academic article published, by those kind people at English: The Journal of the English Association.

The title of the essay is ‘”Me and Not-Me”: folk songs, narrative perspectives, and the gender imaginary in Angela Carter’s Shadow Dance‘, and in it I suggest that Carter observed ways in which folk singers don’t care if the persona of the song they are singing matches their gender, and how she learned a gender blindness from her participation in the folk movement which she came to express in her debut novelĀ Shadow Dance.
